Gabriel and Mary at the Annunciation

Left portal, west façade of Zadar Cathedral

These two statues are on either side of the portal. The object in Mary's left hand could be a spindle, but in this century in the West he more often holds a book. In Gabriel's hands is the sceptre that is customary in Annunciation images.
